The whole person healing approach she took created deep transformational changes that allowed her to overcome her ED’s…permanently. After that she made a commitment to share what she had discovered with others.
In 1987 she developed a seminar called Weight No More and began presenting it through the adult education divisions of various school divisions in Winnipeg. The course material was so well received that participants requested extra levels to the course material and they were developed.
When she and her partner David Malloy met in 1990 they expanded the material again and it is now the Body Dynamics System (BDS).
The Body Dynamics System is whole person approach that encourages, healthy, balanced living. It is based on the principle that how a person feels about themselves internally is mirrored outwardly. Our goal is to work as a team with the individual, families, specialists and other practitioners. Our emphasis is on “wellness coaching.” The Body Dynamics System encourages a lifestyle that goes far beyond the concept of just looking good. We assist clients on their own unique paths to making successful and life-affirming choices that lead to greater health and wellness.
Within the group weight management atmosphere of Body Dynamics seminars there is a pro-active approach that empowers people. It supports clients in making the best choices for themselves based on an individual’s personal values and beliefs. Group life coaching sessions work incredibly well for individuals who are committed to living healthier lives while reaching their weight management goals.
The positive exchanges within the group dynamic and shared experiences create a safe emotional environment of care, understanding and respect. The mutual camaraderie within peer support groups helps everyone move forward, faster. Within group coaching, Coralie and David zero in on achievable goals to support each individual participant to lose weight and maintain his/her ideal weight. They also work together to help each person move confidently and steadily forward, past their weight issues to living a full and joyful existence.
There is no shame in having an eating disorder.
It is a sign that, for some reason, the person is hurting
and needs some help.
FRESH BEGINNINGS SERVICES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY:
Our life coaching services and group work provide a positive, neutral and supportive environment for clients and or
families. Our approach can create understanding and awareness between individuals and their loved ones. We assist all
sides in resolving feelings of anger, guilt, shame, remorse, fear and uncertainty. Disorders are about the person and how
they feel about themselves. It is only when they change their beliefs that they can change their lives.
The dynamics of eating disorders and the impact upon family members, loved ones and ‘outsiders’ can be as complex as the person going through it. One of the most challenging and difficult aspects to accept is that no one can force another to change. The outer signs, symptoms and behaviors are, in reality, a ‘mechanism of choice.’ The process is used to avoid, repress, and deny a variety of unresolved emotional and stress-related problems. Very few people who are struggling with an eating disorder would prefer that lifestyle over happiness, health and fulfillment.
Once family members realize that a loved one has an eating disorder it is important to understand and accept that this condition develops through a combination of emotional, physical and intellectual co-factors. After assisting families and support groups such as Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) and Eating Disorder Association of Manitoba (EDAM), Coralie and David recognized the importance of not only working with the individuals who have eating disorders, but with their families as well. We offer a plan of action that assists families in navigating through what can feel like a maze of conflicted feelings. We provide specific guidelines on how to communicate more effectively. A forum for families and those with the ED is created to clarify how they feel and what they need. This is an area that is often neglected or ignored because of concern for the person with the problem.
By working with family members and the person with the eating disorder progress is made by helping both sides break free from ‘family ties that bind.’ Within an emotionally safe setting it is easier for all sides to see that even the most loving, supportive husbands, wives, parents, children and/or friends cannot create the level of self-esteem required for permanent recovery. This is only possible when the person uncovers the root causes that shaped their self-perception and learns new ways to see themselves and those around them. And that is what the Body Dynamics System provides—Fresh Beginnings.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
With care, understanding and support
After overcoming her eating disorders Coralie Darsey-Malloy has first-hand knowledge, experience and training in the eating disorder field. She struggled with the compulsive coping patterns (CPP) Anorexia, Bulimia and body-image issues for 30 years. During her healing journey Coralie came to the realization that a fixation on food, weight and appearance were outer symptoms of internal mind/body/emotional/spiritual imbalances. With that awareness as a starting point she decided to discover the root causes of her disordered eating…and she did.
